Bathroom upgrades done early October 2021. We had this on a 'To Do' list for seven years! A big clog in the tub during the February ice-storm + a new hole near the tub drain a month later forced us into action. We called NW Tub & Shower in the spring, paid a deposit after choosing new fixtures & got on the install schedule for fall (thanks for ALL your assistance + communication, Gloria). The whole project took around three weeks to complete (Carlos & Erich expertly demolished + installed for five days) & almost every step of it was fun to do/watch. Highest praise & respect for NW Tub & Shower! TOTAL COST: $10,475
Bathroom with many original features (toilet was upgraded four years ago). Only thing saved was the wood vanity (sanded & stained anew, spray painted old pulls silver) with laminate counter + tile backsplash, water heater cabinet & baseboard heater (not pictured).
Original sink. Bye-bye little sinky, we won't miss you cause we often cut ourselves on your rusty parts.
Original steel tub was chipped, rusted, had holes & was completely FINISHED. Thank you for your service, tubby.
Ol' tubby below semi-loose fixtures, ugly light brown/pink shower surround that didn't reach to ceiling & 'cloudy' plastic shower doors.
Original light fixture above mirror/vanity.
Big wall holes where towel racks hung NOT in the wall studs so they enlarged over time.
I filled the larger holes with a bit of paper towel & spackled multiple times.
Rear side of old shower surround ripped off the wall.
Tub & surround removed before rot was found in the floor near toilet/corner of old tub (lower right). Test now for asbestos in floor...
No asbestos in floor! Big relief. Toilet was removed to replace sub-floor under it (no band-aids).
Two additional floors under 'mellow yellow.' Original is on left, an even 'mellowier yellow.'
New tub made of fiberglass & acrylic. It only weighs 75 pounds!
Tub & partial floor installed.
Drywall in.
Tub in place with partial shower surround (looks like tile but isn't), new valving in wall for improved hot/cold experience + pipe stability.
Tub holds water & drains well! The city inspector came twice for about one minute.
New sink & faucet installed (but not yet hooked up) in original vanity/counter with new mirror & light.
New vinyl floating floor installed over 'mellow yellow' & others. Also new molding.
Two plus coats of paint on ceiling, walls & water heater cabinet took us one week to complete.
New paint color that is ever so slightly lavender.
New shower head, handle, window frame + surround that reaches the ceiling with light blue/green rain glass sliding doors. From Carlos in July 2022: "Acrylic surrounds are adhered with a silicone material & it is not troweled-applied like standard formica, hence you may feel squishy, loose areas throughout. This is normal & expected."
Painted most of the water heater cabinet including shadowbox (in yellow) + put on new wood/metal cabinet pulls.
Ta da!
