A Fence Taken

The three-foot chain link fence that surrounded the rear & south side of 3430 was bent/twisted/ripped/cut/uneven/bulging & provided no attractive border nor privacy.  Hooray for a new six-foot red cedar fence quickly (7 hours) but skillfully done by Cascade Fence & Deck, special thanks to Darran Cass.  It smells incredible, looks wonderful & feels fantastic! TOTAL COST (not including stain): $4,357 + $750 (north side)

(Looking south.)

(Looking south-east.)

(The leaning, moss-covered wood fence behind the chain-link was also removed.)

(Down for the count.)

(Incredible two person drill.)

(Metal posts are the way to go...)

(....they're more expensive, but longer-lasting in this climate.)

(Beginning to see the light!)

(Nailing a top piece to the rail to protect pickets from excessive water.)

(Smells like cedar, looks like love.)

(Adios hot tub cover, quizzical garage, etc.)

(Au revoir sunbathing neighbor & various behind-the-garage monsters.)

Here it is stained with Sun Frog's oil-based cedar wood sealer.  The project began Friday July 1st & was completed July 3rd, totaling ~15 hours.  We hand-painted it all, using about 3-4 gallons of stain.   The wood grain is highlighted & it looks very different (orange-ish but much better, more wood detail).  The neighbor to the south (no response from the neighbor to the east) requested her side done so we did the main boards that are exposed, not the pickets that are inlayed.  We'll see how it all holds up!

    1. We got so lucky with you, Darran! It was meant to be. Funny how it works out so easily when it's the right thing. Thanks again for everything.
