Green (not black) mold on northeast corner wall & wood baseboard. Not a huge amount but it was slowly spreading outward & up.
Carpet removed.
Putting up the containment.
Containment in place with wall & part of floor removed. The original vinyl floor tiles that contain asbestos are visible.
'Scrubbing' the air after mold was removed to clean/purify the area using heavy fans vented out the window.
Wall insulation added to open cavities.
Drywall up & getting smoothed out to match the texture of the other walls.
Project 2: Insulating the WHOLE HOUSE, or the exterior walls.
Holes drilled in the wood siding to insert a hose & blow insulation in from top to bottom.
Siding holes caulked, patched & painted after insulation.
New wall painted, new baseboard heater, new hemlock baseboard & new carpet on the way...
No mold & much quieter/warmer.
The cost of this major project was fully covered by our house insurance because the mold was a preexisting condition (not noted in the inspection). TOTAL COST: $4,700 to insulate walls
